Jomsom Trekking

The trek to Jomsom and back in 14 days, and you will share the trail with trains of burros and ponies travelling to Mustang and other areas closed to foreigners. This is a major trade and trekking route, so there are facilities for trekkers almost every hour all along the trek. Many of these are surprisingly well-equipped hotels operated by Thakalis, people who inhabit the valley between Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. From the Kali Gandaki valley, you can make side trips to either the 1950 French Annapurna base camp to the base camp for Dhaulagiri. The views of the mountains are spectacular, and the route actuall crosses to the other side of the main Himalayan range for some unusual views of the northern flanks.
